Valentyna Yakobchuk is a PhD, Professor, and Head of the Department of Economic Theory, Intellectual Property and Public Administration at Polissia National University (Zhytomyr, Ukraine). She has over 37 years of teaching experience.
She graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 1980 with a degree in Political Economy. In 1986, she defended her dissertation titled “Features of Reproduction of Labor Force under Agro-Industrial Integration” (specialty 08.00.01 – economic theory) under the supervision of Prof. M. M. Kirienko.
Since 2001, Professor Yakobchuk has served as Head of the Department, where she teaches and coordinates courses on macroeconomics in public administration, public and municipal management, resource potential management, innovation in public governance, and intellectual property management. She previously held the position of Deputy Dean of Faculty (1999–2001) and served as Secretary of the Specialized Academic Council at Zhytomyr National Agroecological University (2003–2012).
Her research interests include public sector economics, digital technologies in public governance, the formation of social and intellectual capital in communities, and the development of the intellectual economy.
Professor Yakobchuk is also actively engaged in the cultural and civic life of the university. She has initiated and curated numerous exhibitions and cultural events through her department, highlighting the creative work of students and staff in areas such as handicrafts, embroidery, poetry, visual arts, and environmental awareness. Among the notable events she has supported are “Dusha Polissia,” “Embroidered Shirt Day,” and various student-led art exhibitions, which promote regional identity and youth engagement.
