Agata Ścigocka, is currently a PhD student at Masovian University in Płock. Her main academic and personal interests focus on educational systems that promote autonomy, flexibility, and individualized learning.
In this project, she decided to explore home education in Norway, a country known for its strong welfare system and high-quality public education, yet with a growing interest in homeschooling. She aims to understand who chooses home education, why they do so, and how the Norwegian cultural and legal context shapes this choice.
The article examines several key aspects of homeschooling in Norway including numbers and demographics, family motivations, regional distribution, legal frameworks, curriculum structure, subjects, assessment methods, and extracurricular opportunities. She also explores how Norwegian culture, values, and social norms influence the perception and popularity of home education.
Through this research, she hopes to contribute to a deeper understanding of how education can adapt to the diverse needs of families and how homeschooling fits within the broader landscape of modern education in Europe.
