Preface
The completion of this dissertation represents a significant milestone in my academic and professional journey, one shaped by both challenges and opportunities. It is with immense gratitude that I reflect on the enriching experiences and unwavering support that have accompanied me throughout this process.
I embarked on this path under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Jan-Urban Sandal, Executive Director and Owner of the Fil. Dr. Jan-U. Sandal Institute. During this time, I was honored to receive the prestigious status of Affiliated Honorary Research Fellow at the Institute, a recognition that has profoundly impacted my development as a researcher. The academic environment at the Institute, with its emphasis on excellence in science and education, has been instrumental in shaping the ideas and arguments presented in this work.
The focus of this dissertation – social entrepreneurship as a pathway to the circular economy – stems from my deep commitment to addressing global challenges through innovative and inclusive approaches. As Ukraine navigates its post-conflict recovery, I believe that social entrepreneurship and the principles of the circular economy are indispensable for achieving sustainable development and fostering resilience.
This dissertation would not have been possible without the exceptional leadership and encouragement of Dr. Sandal. His commitment to fostering independent thought and innovation has been a constant source of inspiration. The opportunities forlearning, collaboration, and intellectual exploration provided by the Institute have been invaluable, and I am profoundly grateful for the mentorship and trust extended to me.
Finally, I extend my gratitude to the broader academic and professional communities that have influenced this work. I hope that the findings and insights presented in this dissertation contribute meaningfully to the discourse on social entrepreneurship and circular economy practices, inspiring future research and real-world applications in Ukraine and beyond.
